RHONDA KAY RICHARDS

passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

A devoted best friend to many, Rhonda made space in her life and in her heart for everyone she encountered, doing her best to help and to heal others. She had an innate ability to find and celebrate the best attributes of others. She had the kindest soul, found her treasure in people not things, was always accepting, ever forgiving and loving. She was always ready to listen. She was a caregiver to so many as a nurse, mom, friend, and daughter. She made this world a better place.

She loved the great outdoors, relishing in time spent under the moon and stars and walking through the forest, where she felt closest to God. Her other passions included music and travel, which she enjoyed with family and friends whenever possible.

Born January 24, 1960, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Paul N. and Norma (Henney) Zartman. A graduate of Snider High School and Manchester College, she spent her career in Nursing and caring for others. 

Survivors include her children, Jeremy Richards and Jeanne Richards; stepson, Danny Handschy and Josh Richards; and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Richards, all of Fort Wayne. She is also survived by her brothers Richard Zartman of Columbia City, Ronald (Rita) Zartman and Roger (Anna) Zartman of Fort Wayne; aunts Wanda Bair, Alice Eason and Shirla Henney, an uncle Matthew (Ellen) Henney; nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

A celebration of life for Rhonda's wide circle of friends and family will be planned for a later date.
